Simply turning it on at that point isn't enough as the save file will still be gubbed: to make it through without those crashes you need to turn on the janitor and start a new game. The janitor has to be on for me in both Extermination Day (full game) and Brutal Doom 2 vanilla in the remastered Icon of Sin boss, as turning it off makes the game freeze and crash when Baphomet dies instead of loading the final text crawl.
I think it's a combination of map size, amount of sprites and the janitor setting being off that contributes to it, but that's just a guess. I think I had dips now and then too, but if I remember right, they were at their worst in the first or second Hell level, where you climb the castle and make your way to the Egg Dragoon/Super Cyberdemon tower. Brutal Doom runs pretty smoothly and I was able to test it with nuts.wad and maps all of the Doom 2 story but for the life of me I have no idea what is causing these dips. I tweaked a TON of settings and am still find myself having issues which doesn't really make sense on what could be causing it now since I still run brand new high demand games at max settings.Īnyway, my question is if you had similar dives in performance during your Extermination Day campaign and what your fix was if you had any. I am currently plaything through it (map15 twisted neighborhood) and throughout the entire course of this I have had insane drops in fps here and there but managed to keep playing through it.
I randomly stumbled upon a play through of Extermination Day via Youtube and chose to install Brutal Doom all over again. I am hoping you still have this thread set to have notifications. Originally posted by (N☆G) Jackal ★JJ★:Hey!
WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO TO RUN THIS F.UCKING MOD?!Ģ) Unpack it anywhere (for example "C:\GZDoom").ģ) Put "doom2.wad" into GZDoom folder and run gzdoom once to create config file (gzdoom.ini).Ĥ) Download latest Brutal Doom ( ) and Extermination Day ( ).ĥ) Put "bd21RC3.pk3" and "edaytestdec09.pk3" into GZDoom folder.Ħ) Make a copy of the original gzdoom.ini config file and rename it ("eday.ini" for example).ħ) Open "eday.ini" with Wordpad and under add the following:Ĩ) Create shortcut for gzdoom.exe, right click it and select "properties".ĩ) In the "Target" field add "-iwad doom2.wad -config eday.ini" (without quotes), so it will look like this : "C:\GZDoom\gzdoom.exe" -iwad doom2.wad -config eday.iniġ0) Done.
I am p.issed off because I want to play this mod but I don't know how to make it work and cannot find instructions on how to do so anywhere. Script error, "gzdoom.pk3:compatibility.txt" line 5:
Putting copies in the skins folder doesn't work, running with the GZ Doom - PLAY BRUTAL DOOM executable doesn't work as it always loads the version 20b file, removing said file breaks the game and loads the wad as a basic doom 2 wad, loading with the base GZ Doom executable doesn't work and produces this error: There is no read me file that comes with later builds of ED detailing how to do it, no instructions online, NOTHING.
I got Brutal Doom 21 recently so i wanted to use it with the January 2 build of Extermination Day, which I think is the latest build, but I have no idea how to run the latter, let alone with Brutal Doom version 21. The following is from a GOG post I tried to make but GOG is acting up and refused to post the damn message so I'm trying again here:
